Small/Beginning Producer Activities

Raising sheep can be an enjoyable and profitable activity.  Fortunately a modest investment can get one started in sheep production and to maintain a small flock.  Help is available from several sources:

The Michigan Sheep Producers Association (MPSA) can arrange for a mentor who can provide advice and encouragement in starting and maintaining a flock.  Refer to the “Mentor” heading at the top of the Home Page of this site to learn how to connect with a mentor or how to become a mentor.

The “Links” button on this site will lead to a list of many other helpful websites.  For example, the Maryland Small Ruminant page is an excellent source of information.  Clicking on the Michigan State University Extension Service can lead to obtaining  professional assistance.
